We would like to draw your attention to an important update from the National Pollution Funds Center (NPFC) regarding the processing of urgent applications for COFRs.
Whereas urgent applications (i.e. when a ship needs a COFR within 96 hours) were previously fast tracked, this will no longer be the standard practice as of March 30, 2026. Instead, all applications will be processed strictly in order of receipt, with a few exceptions. This change makes it even more important to apply for the COFR and associated guarantees in a timely manner.
The attached link contains a circular from SIGCO with the official notification from NPFC and SIGCO’s recommendations to avoid the risk of delays.
